These are the evergreen variety of the species meaning they retain their foliage all year long unlike deciduous strains of princess persimmon. They produce small round orange fruit (see the attached example picture of a mature one) and black trunks. These were propagated by seed so it’s unsure whether they are male or females. Females are less likely to come up from seed than males.
This species can be propagated by seed via the fruit or by root cuttings. Originally from China, and secondarily from Japan where they are used as bonsai.
This is a rare offering and the other trees we are selling that weren’t grown here at Kaedebonsai-En. A local friend of the nursery grew them from seed about 6 years ago. They have been cared for very well under his care and now looking for new enthusiasts to enjoy and grow them.
There are only 12 available.
The tree shown is an example tree. They will be 6-9 inches tall, have a sturdy little trunk and small foliage.
We are very happy to order these rare plants.
