This is a standard Acer Palmatum, Japanese Maple. The story behind it is that it was a nursery (garden center) pick up because it had Shishigashira on the top of it which I spent 5 years airlayering the Shishi off of it in stages. What was left was the this understock. I decided to keep it because it has a nice nebari and some age. Certainly this is a work in progress but it’s got a lot of shoots, nice base, and would really benefit by living with someone who doesn’t have tens of thousands of trees to care for. It’s been in this pot with Aoki brand Bonsai soil for 2 full seasons, going into its 3rd now. So, it’s probably got some decent fine roots.

Arrival- once the tree arrives, carefully unpack and water. Keep out of full sun for a few weeks to acclimate to your climate. Please keep in mind that a few twigs or branches may break during shipping. We pack very well but these are delicate things, and small things can happen.
