Common Name: Chinese Quince
Latin Name: Pseudocydonia sinensi
Type: Deciduous or semi evergreen
Care: Chinese quince love the sun and warm climates but they also grow extremely well in cold climates. I’ve seen them field grown in zone 4 (northern Ny; Rochester). In a pot they like free draining soil and plenty of fertilizer.
Size: 5-9 inches tall. These are 2-3 years from seed grown in house.
we absolutely love Chinese quince. We grow them in pots (check the potted seedling section) and we grow them in the ground here at our nursery. It takes about 5-6 years for them to begin to fruit. The flowers of Chinese quince are also under appreciated.
*plug tree will arrive with some original soil attached to the roots. Make sure to have a pot and some extra soil. Buying plugs is useful because it’s less root traumatic than buying bare root. And, less expensive than buying a potted tree.
